Hello Friends!

What a year 2014-2015 has been for Wild Intelligence.  We ran 3 year long youth programs, 2 seasonal youth programs, our year long adult program, and numerous other shorter offerings this year.  We had more than 100 participants in programs this year!  Now, it is time for us to CELEBRATE!

You are ALL invited to join us to Celebrate our year with us on Sunday May 3, 2015 from 12:00 pm – 6 pm at Sandy Creek Park.  We will be celebrating in the big field where the Folk Festival happens every year.  (If you don’t know where that is we will put up signs so don’t worry!)  There is a $2 fee/ person to enter the park.  Below is our general plan for the day!  Come when you can and bring your friends and families!  And if you play music bring your instruments!  We’re making a day of it!

  • 12:00 pm – the party begins
  • 1:00 pm – community potluck (bring a dish to share, your picnic blanket, and dishes and join us in a giant community picnic)
  • 2:00 pm – a special storytelling treat from the staff of wild intelligence – you are not going to want to miss this!
  • 2:30 pm – graduation – we will honor all of our year long participants for the great achievements they have made this year – and it’s been a great year!  If you are curious about what it’s like to be in our programs – this is your chance to hear!  We will also be sharing what’s coming in our future!
  • 3:30 pm – the MAYPOLE festivities begin – come weave together the ribbons around the maypole with YOUR community!  We provide the ribbons!  Come laugh with us, dance with us, and CELEBRATE THIS GLORIOUS SPRING!
  • 4:30 – 6:00 pm – We’ll be playing games, talking, and hanging out – there may even be some skill sharing if we get lucky!

There is a $5 suggested donation for families.

image01During the Party there will be a silent auction going on as well to help raise funds for Wild Intelligence so that we can continue to grow and continue to offer deep nature connection to the Athens Area.  Some of the items we are have are:

  • a slingshot from the slingshot master himself – Darrin Cook
  • a massage from Pam Gilchrist
  • a print by local photographer, Jamie Derevere
  • a hand knit angora and silk shawl made by Sarah Hubbard
  • and a few other items that you won’t want to miss.

(We are able to take credit cards so you don’t have to have cash!)

We also want to share with you that Steve Patterson, a local teacher and nature enthusiast will be offering a morning circle at 9:00 am at Sandy Creek Park in the field we will be hosting graduation.  His circle is open to everyone and is free to attend.

Here is what Steve says about it:

image02“Our oneness with all life begins with our relationship with the natural world. It is through this connection that we can both strengthen our bonds with and heal our world, and, in doing so, provide future generations with a deep love of nature. The love of nature is alive and well at Wild Intelligence, and with the graduation of another year of Coyotes, Snakes, and Otters, and Fox.  Steve Pattersson will offer a ceremony at 10 a.m. to express our gratitude for our symbiotic exchange with nature.”

We look forward to celebrating this last year with you and hope you will join us!
