Learning Beyond Words:
A very special Weekend Workshop
On Bird Language and Mentoring
with Jon Young

Weekend Description:
We hear birds all the time - but what are they saying? When we learn to hear the messages in their calls and songs, we enter into the secret world of what is happening all around us, all the time. Birds are the sentinels of the forests and cities – the eyes and ears and voices that watch everything and communicate alarms or peacefulness. They even communicate about us, whether we realize it or not.

In learning to interpret and be sensitive to their language, not only can we tell when the fox or hawk is cruising through the backyard, but they also teach us about ourselves – do we cause alarm or peacefulness? In becoming sensitive to the body language and subtle messages of tiny song-birds, we suddenly become more sensitive towards everything, especially other people. Suddenly, we become better mentors and educators, better parents and friends, better human beings.

The weekend will alternate between outdoor sensory exercises and indoor time spent listening to inspiring stories and working in small study-groups. Come join us as we take the journey of learning what’s being communicated -- beyond words.

Wild Intelligence and the State Botanical Garden of Georgia are honored and pleased to host internationally-renowned speaker and naturalist Jon Young for this very special weekend!

Jon is now an internationally-recognized speaker and teacher, noted for his lively and wise storytelling, informed by his relationships with many indigenous cultural wisdom-keepers across the world. With the recent publishing of his major-publisher book, What the Robin Knows, Jon is now sought-after for his passion and extensive knowledge with Bird Language.

Because nothing in nature stands alone in isolation, Jon's teaching inevitably brings learners to love and connection with all of the natural world - including the dynamics of "natural" human community and culture.
